Invitation

The International Symposium on Wearable Computers (ISWC) is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society. The purpose of ISWC is to bring together researchers, product vendors, fashion designers, textile manufacturers, users, and all interested parties to share information and advances in wearable computing. We invite you to attend ISWC and submit proposals for formal papers, posters, case studies, tutorials, workshops, exhibitions, and demonstrations.

The conference will be held in Seattle, Washington, USA

Papers

We invite researchers to submit papers on the topics listed above or other topics related to wearable computing. The authors of papers that are selected for the conference will provide presentations during the conference. To submit a paper, please do the following:

Posters

We invite researchers, especially students, to submit summaries for posters that describe current work related to wearable computing. The number of posters that are accepted for the conference will be limited by available space. To apply to present a poster, please do the following:

Panels

We invite you to openly debate a wearable related issue with a group of experts. A panel offers an opportunity for 3-5 people (including the chair) to present their views or results on a common theme, issue, or question. Panels should cover timely topics related to the conference areas of interest. Panel selection will be based on the importance, originality, focus and timeliness of the topic; expertise of proposed panelists; as well as the potential for informative (and even controversial) discussion. A panel summary and position statements will be included in the proceedings. Panels must allot at least 50% of the time for interaction and discussion with the audience. To submit a panel proposal, do the following:

Corporate / Personal Case Studies

We invite you to present your recent wearable developments and applications, inform the audience of your future directions, discuss wearable related business issues, or showcase your noteworthy wearable products and services. Corporate/Personal Case Studies are not included in the Proceedings and require no formal printed materials.

Tutorials / Workshops (3 hours)

We invite you to share your wearable related knowledge with other conference attendees. Tutorials and Workshops are intended to enhance the skills and broaden the perspective of their attendees. They should be designed to introduce a rigorous framework for learning a new area or to provide advanced technical training in an area. Workshops differ from tutorials in as much as they may include a wider range of activities such as working position groups, hands-on experiences with hardware/software provided, or standards efforts. Possible examples include conducting usability studies, introduction to augmented reality, designing speech-based interfaces, or wireless networking technology. Exhibitions

We invite you to exhibit your products, fashion designs, services, or research projects during the conference. Exhibitions will be available continuously in a room (or rooms) near the meeting room. Exhibitors will show their products and distribute promotional literature to interested conference attendees. For further information, please see http://iswc.tinmith.net

Demonstrations

Unlike the more formal exhibitions, demonstrations will be on a space- and time-available basis at the symposium. This is an opportunity to show prototype hardware and works in progress to colleagues for comment in a relaxed atmosphere. Paper presenters are highly encouraged to demonstrate their work after their respective sessions. Accommodations (power, space, etc.) will be limited, so participants should plan to be mobile and self-supported. To apply to perform an informal demonstration, please do the following:

Gadget Show

The Gadget Show has been quite popular in previous years, so we are going to do it again. Come to the conference with your best toys for an informal show-and-tell. The exact date and time for this event will be announced later.
